Thank you all for the quick responses and suggestions.I managed to get the program to respond and open the Security Center main window and do a complete scan of the PC. I took your advice and ran the Virtual Assistant which stated it corrected a problem. After restarting the PC I still could not get the SC to open (by right clicking). So I uninstalled Microsoft Office 365 which had expired its trial offer, restarted the PC and lo and behold, my SC came to life almost immediately and I was able to run a scan.

Not sure if that was really the main root of the problem but it seemed to have worked. I didn't want MS Office 365 anyway and just thought I'd get rid of it as I have MS Office 2007 which does me well enough for what I need.Thanks to all! You've been a great help!Bill. Thank you for the quick response,My subscription is current and up to date, I reinstalled a new copy of Mcafee Internet Security b/c it kept requesting to turn real time scanning on but would immediately turn off after turning it on. So I reinstalled it. That fixed that problem but now I can't get it to open the Security Center via right clicking.
